Manila, Philippines – [08 September 2025] — “If you want to make a ripple, do it alone. If you want to make a wave, do it together.” These words came to life as Waves for Hope, organized by JCI Manila, concluded its successful run, uniting artists, collectors, partners, and advocates in a shared effort to bring light and opportunity to those most in need. The event reminded the Smokey Mountain community that they are not forgotten, and that kindness and endurance can prevail even in the harshest of circumstances.
Waves for Hope also marks the inaugural fundraiser for the creation of the JCI Manila Foundation. This milestone underscores the organization’s long-term commitment to building sustainable initiatives that go beyond one-time interventions. The proceeds from the event will not only provide direct support to the Smokey Mountain community and 2Big Impact, an initiative dedicated to providing clean and sustainable water access to underprivileged areas, but will also seed legacy projects under the Foundation with the goal of creating long-term, transformative impact.
Through art, culture, and community engagement, Waves for Hope offered beneficiaries not just material support, but also a renewed sense of hope that will carry forward long after the event. The showcase featured notable works including “Harvest of Dreams” by renowned glass artist Ramon Orlina and the limited edition Leica M11 100 Years of Leica camera, a tribute to the heritage and legacy of photography. These pieces, alongside contributions from LEICA, Art Corner PH, N Studio, Solid Toys, Quiccs, and Gino Roberto, underscored how creativity and craftsmanship can spark meaningful change.

The event’s success was further strengthened through the support of generous sponsors including GH Mall, Reyes Barbecue, EV Supreme, and RCBC, whose solidarity with the cause highlights the vital role of private sector participation in social impact. Media partners such as The New Channel (TNC) also amplified the reach of this initiative, furthering its message of unity, compassion, and long-term impact

Reflecting on the event, AP Padiernos, President of JCI Manila, shared: “Waves for Hope is a living expression of what JCI Manila stands for—building leaders who create positive change. By combining creativity with compassion, this project not only uplifts communities like Smokey Mountain and supports initiatives such as 2Big Impact, but also sets the foundation for our long-term vision through the JCI Manila Foundation. It reinforces our mission to develop leaders who serve, inspire, and create lasting impact.”
Waves for Hope has become a reminder that true strength lies not in the efforts of one, but in the united actions of many.
