Taguig City, Philippines — DIWA proudly launched its LIWANAG mentorship initiative during the DIWA: Q1 Meet-Up held on 11 February 2026, at the Huawei Innovation Hall, 4th Avenue, 12th Floor, BGC, Taguig. The gathering brought together young women in technology—particularly students of ICT and various tech colleges—alongside accomplished women leaders in the industry, marking the beginning of a structured mentorship journey designed to strengthen women’s leadership in the digital age.

DIWA (Digital Innovation for Women’s Advancement), derived from the Filipino word “diwa,” meaning “mind” or “spirit,” embodies a commitment to purposeful and values-driven innovation. DIWA aims to harness the transformative power of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to advance gender equality and empower women to actively participate in building an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable digital future. By fostering mentorship, innovation, and governance, DIWA serves as a platform that connects aspiring women technologists with industry leaders, enabling them to shape industries, influence policy, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

Now formally introduced as Liwanag Mentees, the student participants were paired with experienced mentors who will guide them over the coming months through meaningful conversations, professional insights, and leadership development. LIWANAG—short for Leadership and Innovation for Women’s Advancement, Nation-Building, and Governance—is designed to cultivate women leaders who think boldly, act with integrity, and lead with purpose. As a DIWA-powered project, the initiative anchors mentorship, innovation, and governance in inclusive nation-building and ethical digital transformation, reinforcing the vital role of women in shaping industries, communities, and public policy.
Showcasing the Power of Mentorship and Intergenerational Leadership

A key highlight of the Q1 Meet-Up was the program’s first Table Mentoring session, symbolizing more than a ceremonial launch. The session created an intentional space for dialogue between mentors and mentees, where discussions centered on navigating the tech industry, building confidence in male-dominated spaces, pursuing innovation responsibly, and stepping into leadership roles with clarity and purpose. The exchange of lived experiences and professional wisdom underscored the strength of intergenerational leadership and the transformative impact of guided mentorship.

Through structured conversations and open sharing, LIWANAG set the tone for a mentorship model that prioritizes collaboration, ethical leadership, and long-term community impact—planting seeds that are expected to influence future projects, partnerships, and policy conversations in the years ahead.
An Afternoon of Connection and Community
Beyond the formal sessions, the meet-up also featured a networking reception with a buffet of snacks, coffee, and refreshments, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment for attendees to connect. The space encouraged business discussions, casual conversations, and knowledge-sharing among participants, strengthening a growing network of women committed to uplifting one another in technology and governance.

The DIWA: Quarter 1 Meet-Up represents the first of many engagements under the LIWANAG program, signaling a sustained commitment to empowering young women in ICT and related fields. By fostering mentorship, innovation, and governance grounded in ethical digital transformation, DIWA continues to champion inclusive nation-building through women’s leadership in technology.
