TNC and Global Women Who RULE’s “Me and My Outstanding Mother” Marks Year 5 with Inspiring Mother-Daughter Stories
MANILA, Philippines – Now in its 5th year, the annual “Me and My Outstanding Mother” celebration continues to shine a spotlight on dynamic mother-daughter duos whose personal journeys embody excellence, compassion, and empowerment across generations.
A beloved tradition, this heartwarming event gathers women from different walks of life—leaders, creatives, educators, entrepreneurs—who lead not just in boardrooms and businesses but in their own homes, raising strong daughters and building enduring legacies of purpose.
Among this year’s inspiring honorees is Carla Perlas, a communications powerhouse and Vice President at The Parentinc, the publisher of theAsianparent. A fierce advocate for maternal health and gender equality, Carla brings empathy and expertise into every campaign she leads. Beside her is daughter Cadey Perlas, a poised ballerina and budding storyteller who mirrors her mom’s bold spirit and emotional intelligence—a quiet force in the making.
Another standout pair is Marilou Tolico-Villanueva and her daughter Marian. A former Mrs. Universe Philippines and founder of Philippine Honorable Queens (PHQ) Events, Marilou’s journey from beauty queen to businesswoman is grounded in advocacy—empowering women, preserving culture, and breaking cycles of domestic violence. Marian, her daughter, gracefully juggles leadership as PHQ’s president and brand management duties for Our Mantra Beauty & Wellness, while aspiring for a career in medicine. Together, they symbolize the evolution of beauty into impact.
The event also honors Lizette Tan Bamba, a veteran of Sun Life as a Financial Advisor and Sales Manager, who embodies grace under pressure and spiritual resilience. She is joined by Faith, her daughter studying Community Nutrition at UP, who continues the family’s commitment to service through science and faith-led values.
Solo parenting gets its well-deserved spotlight through Ann Angala, a trailblazing figure in the tech, music, and cycling scenes. A survivor, nurturer, and passionate advocate for women’s rights and sustainability, Ann raised five successful young adults—including Katrina, a versatile writer and creative strategist at a health startup, who leads with quiet strength and heartfelt dedication.
From corporate corridors to civic platforms, Atty. Anthonette Velasco-Allones, Chief Human Resources Officer at Metro Pacific Tollways, stands out as a symbol of lifelong learning and transformative leadership. Her daughter Pia, an Economics major and international dance performer, champions youth engagement, good governance, and environmental stewardship—proof that advocacy begins at home.
Joanna Mojica, a seasoned advertising communications expert with three decades of experience, shares the spotlight with daughter Andrea, a Multimedia Arts student who brings creativity, innovation, and strong family values to her work and life. Their story underscores the power of adaptability, grit, and shared joy in both work and play.
Trailblazer Mayette Balbido Gonzales, CPA and former BPI officer, exemplifies aging with intention. As a financial consultant, event emcee, songwriter, and mother, Mayette continues to inspire with her joyful energy and passion for mentorship. Though details on her daughter Chezka remain limited, Mayette’s journey alone is a celebration of womanhood that refuses to slow down.
In academia, Evelyn Songco, a seasoned professor and researcher at the University of Santo Tomas, represents scholarship and leadership fused with heart. Her daughter Charlotte, Marketing Director at Guill-Bern Corporation and a seasoned expert in scientific product marketing, reflects her mother’s drive for excellence—advocating for data-driven innovation in food safety while nurturing a love for travel and continuous learning.
Finally, Kimberly Lim, a fintech leader at iPay88 Philippines and Certified Professional Marketer, represents the strength of career reinvention. With degrees in Mathematics and Business, she champions digital transformation and second chances for women reentering the workforce. Her daughter Dominique, a Data Science major at Ateneo, balances academic prowess with creativity, proving that quiet strength often makes the loudest impact.
👏 This year, The New Channel – the show producer of the advocacy program Global Women Who RULE launches #MeMOM2025 in partnership with Jollibee. The event is a post mother’s day celebration and will launch a campaign that promotes promotes “date with your Mom (family), everyday not just on Mother’s Day. #MeMOM2025 an afternoon celebration full of love, laughter, and relatable stories!

Similar to the past years, the event will be 2-hour live stream expected to have a roller coaster of emotions. Another highlight to look forward to is a special participation and segment from #MeMOM2024 mom and daughter besties, Orange and Gail Cruz-Macapagal.
