Karaoke World Championships Makes Triumphant Return in Malaysia

Asia-Pacific Relaunch Marks New Era for World-Class Singing Talents

Johor, Malaysia – The Karaoke World Championship (KWC) is officially back in the spotlight as KWC Asia Pacific successfully relaunched the prestigious global competition in Malaysia on Monday, 2nd of June, 2025. The relaunch marks a significant milestone in the efforts to reignite interest and participation in the world’s largest amateur singing contest, especially across Southeast Asia.

The event signals a renewed commitment to discovering and nurturing world-class vocal talent, with a particular focus on uplifting singers from the ASEAN region. Held in Senibong Golf Club in Johor Bahru, the relaunch gathered music enthusiasts, media, and other KWC country partners, all expressing enthusiasm for the return of a platform that has launched the careers of many undiscovered voices.

“This is not just a relaunch—it’s a revival of dreams, shared Elle Quan, a representative from KWC World. “We’ve seen the transformative power of KWC in previous years, and now, more than ever, it’s time to give talented individuals across Malaysia and Southeast Asia a stage to shine.”

The KWC Malaysia relaunch is made even more exciting through partnerships with key entertainment and talent organizations, including Dr. Sangeeta Biswas,  Founder of BTA Globalx and Ayuherba Pte Ltd. and Mr. Razali of Mana Cafe. The launch was supported by The New Channel (TNC), a Philippine-based new media alternative platform that is also the country’s co-producer of KWC in the Philippines. KWC Philippines’ Country partner, Apple Esplana-Manansala, who was present during the launch, is excited to welcome KWC Malaysia back to the KWC community. “We’re excited to witness this new chapter for KWC Malaysia. These collaborations are expected to bolster audition opportunities, talent development, and wider reach through online and in-person events.” Esplana-Manansala shared.

Since its inception, KWC has been a cultural phenomenon, celebrating vocal excellence and uniting singers from different backgrounds. The competition fosters not only artistry but also cultural exchange, a theme that resonates strongly with Malaysia’s vibrant and diverse music scene.

“This is a powerful platform to elevate not just individual singers, but also the region’s rich musical heritage,” said Sangeeta, KWC Malaysia country partner.  “Malaysia has always had world-class talent, and with the right support, we can show the world just how much potential is here.”

KWC Malaysia partners are now working to finalize audition dates and venues across Malaysia. Aspiring singers are encouraged to follow official KWC platforms for updates on how to join.

With KWC Malaysia joining this year’s finals in Bangkok, Thailand, the spirit of community, passion, and vocal excellence takes center stage once again—this time, with greater momentum, stronger partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting the voices of Southeast Asia.
