Homegrown brand CHERRY joins E-Commerce MOU to combat counterfeit consumer electronics

August 27, 2026

The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has facilitated the onboarding of mobile and consumer electronics brand CHERRY to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on E-Commerce, strengthening efforts to protect its products and consumers from counterfeits while promoting a safer and more trusted online marketplace.

Formerly Cherry Mobile, the brand has evolved from its origins as a popular provider of affordable mobile phones into a broader consumer electronics brand offering Internet of Things (IoT)-based products, including security cameras, lighting systems and smart appliances.

The move comes amid the growing adoption of smart home technologies among Filipino households and the continued expansion of e-commerce, which has increasingly shaped how consumers discover and purchase electronic products.

“Homegrown brands like CHERRY have invested greatly in developing technology products and building consumer trust in the market. As such, they deserve a marketplace where their intellectual property or IP rights are respected, and their genuine products can compete fairly,” said Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Deputy Director General Nathaniel S. Arevalo.

Beyond protecting the brand, CHERRY’s entry into the E-Commerce MOU also helps consumers purchase authentic products with greater confidence.

“This initiative will surely help in assuring our patrons that they are buying CHERRY branded products that have passed quality assurance standards,” said Jobelle Tupaz-Go, Marketing Manager of the Cosmic Technologies Inc. (CTI) Group, CHERRY’s parent company.

CHERRY is the flagship brand of the CTI Group, which also includes Pure Living Wellness, an earlier signatory to the E-Commerce MOU. With its accession, CHERRY becomes the 124th party to join the agreement. # # # (Rawl Maliwat, Communications & Marketing Writer)
