Homegrown wellness brand takes stand against online counterfeits through E-Commerce MOU

Homegrown brand Pure Living Wellness International, Inc. has strengthened its campaign against online counterfeiting and reinforced its commitment to public health and safety by signing the E-Commerce Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which aims to speed up the removal of listings and products that violate intellectual property (IP) rights online.

As a signatory, Pure Living can collaborate with major e-commerce platforms that are signatories to the MOU and work alongside fellow MOU signatories and government enforcement agencies in coordinated, multi-stakeholder efforts to curb the proliferation of counterfeit goods in the digital marketplace.

A Philippine-based enterprise, Pure Living Wellness International, Inc. advances beauty and wellness through its portfolio of brands, including Luxelle (beauty devices and skincare products), VitaSense (bath and wash accessories) and Ultima (scented oils and diffusers). Beyond its product offerings, the company also provides entrepreneurship opportunities through its business platform. Pure Living operates under the Cosmic Technologies, Inc. (CTI) Group, also known as One Cherry.

“Pure Living’s signing of the MOU further strengthens our shared commitment, together with other brands and associations, to protect the consuming public from the perils of counterfeit products,” said IPOPHL Acting Director General (ADG) Nathaniel S. Arevalo.

“The proliferation of counterfeit products of these brands may pose serious health risks as fake cosmetic goods are cited to contain known carcinogens and dangerous levels of bacteria,” added ADG Arevalo.

Kristian Nico C. Acosta, Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and General Counsel of CTI Group, said that with Pure Living joining this initiative, “we are optimistic that we can enforce our IP rights in cyberspace in an upscaled level.”

“The presence of counterfeit Luxelle, VitaSense and Ultima products in the e-commerce space not only affects Pure Living’s interest, but also its customers’ safety as they rely on the products’ quality,” said Christine Pangilinan-Canlapan, Supervising Director of IPOPHL’s IP Rights Enforcement Office.

“When the trust of the public is compromised, profits follow. This downward spiral kills the company’s capacity for innovation and future growth,” she added. # # # (Joseph F. Nacino, Communications and Marketing Writer)
