40th Kiwanis Special Games Held at Marikina Sports Complex

MARIKINA CITY — The 40th Kiwanis Special Games was held on the 18th of January 2026, at the Marikina Sports Complex, bringing together children with special needs, their families, educators, and volunteers for a milestone edition of the long-running inclusive sports program.

Organized by the Kiwanis Club of Kalayaan, the event marked four decades of continuous service aimed at providing children of all abilities an opportunity to participate in adaptive sports and recreational activities in a supportive community setting.

Participants took part in a series of games and activities designed to prioritize accessibility, participation, and enjoyment rather than competition. Volunteers and educators assisted throughout the day to ensure that each child could safely and confidently engage in the activities.

The sports complex was filled with activity as families and supporters gathered to cheer on participants. Photo documentation from the event showed children actively participating in games, receiving recognition, and interacting with volunteers and peers in an encouraging environment.

The 40th edition of the Special Games also highlighted the sustained efforts of Kiwanis members, partner organizations, and volunteers who have supported the program over the years. Recognition activities were conducted to acknowledge the contributions of educators, caregivers, and volunteers who helped organize and manage the event.

All participants received recognition for their involvement, reinforcing the program’s emphasis on inclusion and personal achievement. The event continued Kiwanis’ tradition of promoting confidence, social interaction, and positive experiences for children with special needs through sports.

The Kiwanis Special Games has been held annually for four decades and remains one of the organization’s signature service projects. The milestone event in Marikina City underscored the program’s ongoing role in community engagement and inclusive youth development.
