From a Young Dreamer to a Karaoke Philippines Champion: The Inspiring Journey of KWC Artist, Samantha Cedro

“Music gave her a voice. Faith gave her purpose. Adversity gave her strength.”

Some singers are born with extraordinary talent. Others become unforgettable because of the battles they overcome. Samantha Cedro is both.

From singing at the age of six in their church’s Little Voices, Big Dreams program under the mentorship of renowned performers Isay Alvarez and Robert Seña, Samantha discovered early that music was more than just a passion—it was her calling.

That first performance became the beginning of a remarkable journey filled with perseverance, determination, and an unwavering belief that dreams can become reality.

Growing up, Samantha fearlessly pursued every opportunity to improve her craft. Her first singing competition during her high school years, Culiat Got Talent in Quezon City, earned her the title of 1st Runner-Up, igniting her desire to pursue music even further. Although her early auditions for Wowowin and The Voice Philippines did not immediately open the doors she had hoped for, they strengthened her resolve to continue learning, improving, and believing in her potential.

When her family relocated to Koronadal City in South Cotabato, Samantha’s musical journey flourished. She became a talent scholar at Green Valley College, representing her school in community performances, barangay events, intramurals, and the prestigious PRISAA competitions. Year after year, she consistently qualified for regional competitions before advancing to the national stage, proudly carrying not only the name of her school but also the hopes of everyone who believed in her.

One of her breakthroughs came in 2015, when she successfully auditioned for the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) and earned the privilege of representing the Philippines in Long Beach, California, USA. Competing against some of the world’s finest performers, Samantha delivered an exceptional performance that earned her a Gold Medal and the title of World Champion—a milestone that cemented her place among the country’s internationally recognized Filipino artists.

Her passion for music continued to take her to bigger stages. She became a Mindanao contender on ABS-CBN’s Tawag ng Tanghalan and continued joining local, regional, and national singing competitions, constantly sharpening her artistry while inspiring audiences through every performance.

More recently, Samantha has become one of the standout artists of Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Philippines, where she has consistently proven herself among the country’s finest vocalists. She first reached the Top 10 of KWC Philippines 2024, before making an even stronger statement the following year by finishing as First Runner-Up in the KWC Philippines 2025 Luzon Leg. Her remarkable performances propelled her to the KWC Philippines 2025 National Grand Finals, where she emerged as the 4th Runner-Up among the nation’s best singers. Alongside these accomplishments, she also captured the First Runner-Up title at the Boss Juan Singing Competition in 2023, further solidifying her reputation as one of the country’s most promising and versatile performers. From her consistent appearances as a PRISAA Regional and National Finalist between 2016 and 2018 to representing the Philippines on the world stage, Samantha’s growing list of achievements reflects years of dedication, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Yet Samantha’s story is about far more than trophies and titles.

At just 12 years old, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a life-changing condition that demands extraordinary discipline and resilience every single day. Instead of allowing her diagnosis to define her, Samantha turned to music as her refuge.

Every rehearsal became therapy. Every performance became a celebration of life. Every song reminded her that while challenges may shape our journey, they should never limit our dreams.

“My family is my greatest motivation,” Samantha shares. “Singing helps me overcome stress and life’s challenges. More than winning competitions, I want to inspire people, glorify God through the talent He has given me, and show the world that no obstacle is greater than faith, perseverance, and passion.”

Today, Samantha continues to perform on major stages and high-profile events as one of the featured artists of Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Philippines. Her voice has become more than a source of entertainment—it has become a source of hope for aspiring singers, especially those facing their own personal battles.

Samantha’s KWC journey has now opened yet another remarkable chapter. Following her impressive performances in the national competition, Samantha has been selected as one of the two official representatives of the Philippines to the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) World Finals 2026. Together with Kathleen Follero, the KWC Philippines 2025 Grand Champion, she will proudly represent the Philippine on the world stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from October 21–25, 2026. As they stand shoulder to shoulder wearing the Philippine colors, Samantha once again fulfills a lifelong dream of showcasing Filipino talent before an international audience—this time through one of the world’s most prestigious karaoke singing competitions.
