LOS ANGELES, California — September 5, 2026 — Filipino theater and entertainment icon Lea Salonga has officially made history as the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking another milestone in her decades-long international career.
Salonga was honored on September 4, 2026, with the 2,855th star on the legendary Hollywood landmark. Her star is in the Live Performance category and is located on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre.
The recognition celebrates Salonga’s remarkable contributions to theater, music, film, and television. She rose to international prominence through her Tony Award-winning performance as Kim in Miss Saigon, becoming the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award. She also became globally recognized as the singing voice of Disney’s Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in Mulan.
The star unveiling was attended by several notable figures, including Ming-Na Wen, Darren Criss, H.E.R., and Brandy, who paid tribute to Salonga’s influence and enduring legacy.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce described Salonga as a trailblazer whose extraordinary talent and decades-long career have inspired audiences around the world. Her recognition also represents a significant milestone for the Filipino community and aspiring artists worldwide.
For Salonga, the moment was more than a personal achievement. She expressed hope that a young Filipino visiting Hollywood would one day see her name on the Walk of Fame and think, “Oh, maybe I can get here too.”
